Bread

BREAD PROJECT

Saving Food Together

Every day, large quantities of perfectly edible food are discarded – including bread and baked goods. Together with our guests, partners and regional businesses, our Bread Project actively helps reduce food waste.

By giving surplus bread a second life, valuable resources are conserved, regional cycles are strengthened and food is put to sustainable use instead of ending up as waste.

With our Bread Project, we join forces with our guests to promote responsible food consumption and raise awareness of food waste.

OUR MISSION

Food deserves appreciation.

Bread is far more than just food. Producing it requires grain, water, energy and a great deal of craftsmanship. When bread is thrown away, not only is food wasted, but valuable resources are lost as well.

Through our Bread Project, we aim to raise awareness of responsible food consumption together with our guests. Even small everyday decisions can make a meaningful contribution to reducing food waste.

That is why we focus on regional cycles and the sustainable reuse of surplus bread – resource-efficient, environmentally friendly and beneficial for both people and nature.

How the Bread Project works

Collect surplus bread

Bread that is no longer needed but still perfectly edible is collected instead of being thrown away.

Gentle drying

The collected bread is carefully dried and prepared for further use.

Second Bread collection containers

The dried bread is delivered without packaging to regional collection points and placed in dedicated Second Bread containers.

Sustainable reuse

Local farmers collect the bread and use it as a valuable supplement to animal feed, creating a sustainable regional cycle.

Together against food waste

Sustainability often begins with small decisions. Together with our guests, regional businesses and partners, we actively help reduce food waste.

By reusing surplus bread, valuable food is put to good use, resources are conserved and regional cycles are strengthened.

Every loaf saved helps reduce waste, preserve valuable resources and protect our environment.

Did you know?

Food is one of our most valuable resources. Nevertheless, enormous quantities of bread and baked goods are discarded every year, even though they are still perfectly suitable for consumption.

Even small changes in our daily lives can help reduce food waste, conserve valuable resources and lessen our environmental impact.

Our Bread Project demonstrates that sustainability often starts with simple everyday choices.

Saving Food Together

Every loaf of bread saved helps conserve valuable resources, encourages more conscious food consumption and contributes to a more sustainable future.

Together with our guests, partners and regional businesses, we create a meaningful circular system and take a stand against food waste.

Thank you for being part of this project.
