The reservoir Durlassboden is a lake at high altitude within the Wildgerlosvalley that is surrounded by the wonderful peaks of the Zillertaler Alps. The lake lies at an altitude of 1400 m, is 6 km in length, 2 km in breadth and up to 55 m deep. Here you will also find the highest situated surf- and sailing school, a boat rental, a lido with a childrens playground and barbecue area as well as the cozy restaurant „Seestüberl“.
In autumn the crystal clear water from the glacier offers incredible views of 15 to 20 m and more in depth – ideal for scuba diving or snorkeling. In spring and summer however, the additional water from the glacier brings lots of rubble that has been polished by the glacier. This distorts the view so that one can only look about 3 m deep. From there on it is pitch dark.
In opposition to what one expects the temperature of the lake is not cold – at least during summer. The water temperature rises to about 20 degrees celcius. The Durlassboden is worth a visit.
